In order to support the aggressive growth of our activities in the energy sector, we are currently looking for Business Development Associate to join our team as early as January 2020 in Brussels. The role will support the overall sales cycle, including preparing sales pitches and proposals, new market research, financial analysis of opportunities, evaluation of technology options, competition landscape and development of recommendations to management. This position will include a particular focus on solutions that enable increased uptake of renewable energy and self-energy consumption. Key Responsibilitys
  • Build various business use cases on (a) empowering consumers on self-energy consumption by optimizing energy usage of appliances and other on-site generation such as PV and battery (b) strengthening local energy communities and (c) building local energy trading marketplaces for network operators
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis and financial modelling
  • Build competition landscape and make recommendations on differentiated product requirements and positioning
  • Conduct interviews to gather customer requirements, understand pains, gains and willingness to pay via questionnaires, surveys, phone conversations and other methods
  • Work on market sizing to support business development on where opportunities for commercialization exists
  • Provide direct input into Horizon 2020 project deliverables
  • Support the team in the development of proposals, presentations and demo content (e.g. events, conferences and webinars)

We are looking for someone who is hungry and driven, who can filter out all the background noise and focus on connecting with potential customers, analyzing new market opportunities, and driving new leads. The ideal person will be creative, proactive, driven, and comfortable working independently.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required and Master's Degree preferred related to energy, business or equivalent
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Business model analysis experience
  • Strong insight development and value proposition definition skills
  • Creativity and critical thinking skills to tackle a variety of challenges from the industry level to client-specific
  • Ability to effectively operate with high energy and flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving team environment
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage diverse relationships and multiple, complex projects simultaneously
  • Renewable energy industry experience is a plus
  • Fluency in English and Dutch or French is preferred
